Attendees at the conference have an opportunity to get involved with our host community in Montreal by participating in an inspiring and fun CSR project. GMIC will be partnering up with the non-profit La TOHU to create beautiful lanterns and kites made from recycled materials that will be donated to members of the Saint Michele neighborhood in Montreal during two important community building events that La TOHU will hold later in the summer.

This ticket is available for qualified students to attend the IMEX/GMIC Future Leaders Forum. The Forum will provide students an opportunity to hear from sustainable meeting industry thought leaders as well as a chance to sit down in round table discussions with leaders in sustainability whose expertise range from sustainable venues and destinations to waste management and food and beverage selection. The Forum is FREE for the first 50 students that register!

**GMIC's Introduction to Principles of Sustainable Event Management**

This interactive one day training session will address the core knowledge and skills of developing a sustainability action plan for your meeting or event. Exploration of an event case study will be applied to the action steps as well as to baseline requirements for the APEX/ASTM sustainable event standards will be explored.

As part of the overall event sustainability plan, the Sustainable Meetings Conference is measuring the carbon footprint of the event and accounting for Scope I and II emissions from event-related activities. The Sustainable Meetings Conference is inviting all attendees, speakers and exhibitors to participate in offsetting Scope III emissions which include attendee travel to and from the venue in Montreal, Canada.

Given the fact that attendees may come from as close as Montreal or as far as Europe, the conference organizers have streamlined the process to account for the average attendee travel footprint equal to 1 metric ton of CO2.

Project Fredericton Landfill Gas Project

Your offset purchase supports the Fredericton Landfill Gas Project located in New Brunswick, Canada. This innovative project involves the installation of a landfill gas management system which covers 120 hectares. In addition to eliminating greenhouse gas emissions, the project also reduces landfill odors and other harmful air pollutants. As it is also the first provincial landfill site to build a landfill gas management system designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the project will facilitate technology transfer for replication throughout the country.
